Why does the Talon SAM explode on my own wall in WARDOGS?

Talon missiles have a minimum arming distance. Any HESCO lip, parapet or block in front of the launcher inside that distance detonates the missile on your own structure. Cover goes beside and behind, never in front, or mount it on a Recon Tower deck.

The Talon 9K-SAM fires heat-seeking missiles (200 damage, 2 m radius) that only arm after travelling a minimum distance. It is the most common anti-air mistake in the game: a player boxes the launcher in a tidy HESCO square, the first missile hits the front block, and the box takes the damage.

Placement Result
Full HESCO box around the Talon missiles detonate on the front wall
Three-sided box, front open works; cover the flanks and rear, leave the firing sector clear
On a Recon Tower deck best: 7.6 m up, nothing in front at any angle, ladder boxed below
On a 4×4 platform works if the platform has no parapet

The ground box module shows the three-sided version; the tower mount is the version every larger FOBplans base uses. Either way, feed it: the launcher starts with one missile, each missile costs 50 Ammo supplies, and one Ammo pallet is 36 shots.

The Talon’s menu cost is disputed (601 in written guides, 60 or 80 in planner databases) and the arming distance in metres is not documented; both are on our in-game verification list.
